Success From Hating Grocery Shopping!
These FABULOUS chicken burgers were created thanks to my love/hate relationship with grocery shopping. Well, more the “hate” part! When I asked my husband what he wanted for dinner, he said, “Let’s grill!” Of course! Because I don’t think I have anything to grill. I scoured through the fridge and freezer only to find ground chicken. He did offer to run to the store, but after watching him make his own hamburger patties so many times, I thought I would try to do the same thing with ground chicken!
I immediately searched for other ingredients to come up with some kind of concoction. Here’s what I came up with, and they are now a family go-to!
The Fabulous Chicken Burger Concoction
I put the ground chicken in a big bowl and threw in some salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Everything is always better with onion, so I chopped up about half of a yellow one and tossed it in the bowl, too.
While I was getting those ingredients together, I was thinking I needed something on this burger. I totally dislike ketchup with chicken, so I needed to figure something else out. There’s nothing more boring than chicken on a bun! So, I browsed my condiments thinking the only two that I would consider were BBQ Sauce or Mayo. Actually, let’s just mix them both together for some BBQ Mayo! Perfect! (I specifically like Jack Daniel’s Original and Hellman’s Mayo)
I mixed up equal parts of each, and I even decided, “Heck, I’m just going to throw a little in the patty mixture.” So, I put about 2 tablespoons in the mixture, used my hands to mix it all together, and formed the patties. This is what my BBQ Mayo ended up looking like!
They don’t stick together as well as beef, so we grilled them on top of aluminum foil on the grill.
We do take the aluminum foil off once the patties are holding together better! Medium-high until brown and cooked through. *We tried leaving the sauce out of the meat mixture to see if it would change the consistency for grilling, and it did not. So, leave that sauce in!
We like them on a bun with some BBQ Mayo as the only fixing!
They were (and still are) really delicious, really easy, and pretty quick!
