The perfect candy bar does not take much planning at all. Your guests will go crazy over it, and it will add both a colorful AND elegant touch! Here are 5 ways to make the perfect candy bar for your next event!
*For the purpose of this post, I am going to use the example of a “Ready To Pop!” themed baby shower.
1. Get Candy That Matches The Colors Of Your Event!
If your event is mostly pink and gold, get pink and gold candy. If it’s a circus theme, get red and white, and so on! It doesn’t matter what kind of candy it is, just get the right colors!
“Ready To Pop!” theme example: I used candy with POP!(Blow POPs & Ring POPs) or that POPped! (bubble gum). Since we had red & white POPcorn, we decided to go with red & white candy. Example: Swedish fish, red suckers, licorice, peppermints, etc. P.S. With the red, white, and POP theme; the theme totally turned into a circus!
2. Have To-Go Bags That Go With Your Theme!
Sometimes you may just have to go with a clear baggie, but find whatever you can at your local dollar store. For my “Ready To Pop” themed baby shower, I used red and white popcorn bags and they were only 12 for a $1!
3. Buy In Bulk!
If you go to your local Bulk Foods or find a Bulk Candy Store online (such as SweetServices.com), they will have candy sorted by color. This makes it super easy to pick out goodies that match your colors and/or theme.
4. Use Display Containers That Go With Your Theme!
You know, this isn’t SUPER important. If you can’t find anything, clear containers from your local dollar store are super pretty! Just get different sizes & shapes to make it look different!
I used these popcorn bins that I just so happened to find at the dollar store. Otherwise, I would’ve used clear, too!
If I were to do this theme over, I probably would have used clear containers in the middle instead of the big popcorn bins because we can’t see what’s in them. I think the display would have had much more depth if those containers were clear. In those bins were Swedish Fish, Red Gummy Coins (remember those?), & Red Gummy Bears!
5. Have Back-Up & Hide It!
When your guests are packing up their “To-Go” containers, they are going to take one for their kids, friends’ kids, nieces, nephews, etc. They will not stop! Have LOTS of backup goodies (HIDDEN). You don’t want them to know you have it! Otherwise, they will just take more!
*Hint: Candy still packaged, can usually be returned, so you don’t have to worry about overspending. I also had cotton candy bags from my local dollar store. I was able to return all the bags I didn’t use.
So, display the minimum, and replenish when no one is looking!!!!!!!!!! He, He!
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE let me know your candy bar secrets! They are a HUGE go-to for birthday parties & showers!
Shout Out to bulk candy companies that organize their goodies by color! Fire Up for bulk candy stores that carry goodies from when we were kids!!!! LOVE!
